Submission Guidelines

Submitting a Manuscript

Authors wishing to publish in Islamic Sciences should submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system.

Before submitting, authors should make sure that the manuscript falls within the journal’s scope, is complete and properly referenced, and is not being considered by another journal.

Submission also confirms that all listed authors have approved the manuscript and agree to its consideration by Islamic Sciences.

Online Submission

Submissions are handled through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Authors will need to register on the journal website or log in to an existing account and begin a new submission from the author dashboard.

The system will ask the author to upload the manuscript and provide the basic information needed for editorial processing, including the title, abstract, keywords, author details, affiliations, and other relevant information.

Authors should enter this information carefully, as the metadata provided at submission may later form part of the published article record.

Preparing the Manuscript

The manuscript should be complete when it is submitted and should normally contain:

  • Article title

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

  • Main text

  • References or bibliography

  • Tables, figures, or illustrations where relevant

Authors should also provide accurate information about all contributors, including names, institutional affiliations, and contact details.

An ORCID identifier may also be added where available.

Anonymous Review

Where anonymous peer review is used, the manuscript submitted for review should not contain unnecessary information that identifies the author.

Author names, affiliations, biographies, and acknowledgements may be entered separately through the submission system and restored after the review process.

The editorial office may ask for a revised anonymized file if identifying information remains in the manuscript.

Article Information and Metadata

The information entered in OJS should correspond with the manuscript itself.

Particular care should be taken with:

  • Author names

  • Author order

  • Article title

  • Abstract

  • Keywords

  • Institutional affiliations

  • Corresponding-author details

Errors in metadata can create problems later during publication, DOI registration, citation, and scholarly discovery.

Authors are therefore encouraged to review all information before completing the submission.

Supporting Material

Additional material may be uploaded where it is genuinely relevant to the article.

This may include figures, tables, supporting data, permissions, ethical approval documents, appendices, or other material needed for editorial assessment or publication.

Authors should not upload unnecessary personal or confidential documents unless specifically requested by the journal.

Initial Editorial Assessment

Every submission is first reviewed by the editorial team.

At this stage, the editors consider whether the manuscript is relevant to the journal, academically developed, appropriately documented, and suitable for peer review.

A manuscript may be sent for external review, returned for preliminary correction, or declined at this stage where it clearly falls outside the journal’s scope or does not meet its basic scholarly requirements.

Submission does not therefore guarantee external peer review.

Peer Review

Manuscripts considered suitable after editorial screening are reviewed in accordance with the journal’s Peer Review Policy.

Reviewers assess the quality of the argument, use of evidence, engagement with relevant scholarship, accuracy of sources, and overall contribution of the manuscript.

Reviewer reports inform the editorial decision, but responsibility for acceptance or rejection remains with the journal’s editors.

Revision

Where revision is requested, authors should submit a revised manuscript through the journal system or according to the instructions provided by the editorial office.

Authors should normally explain how the principal reviewer and editorial comments have been addressed.

They are not expected to accept every suggestion automatically. Where an author does not follow a recommendation, a brief academic explanation may be given.

A request for revision should not be understood as a guarantee of publication.

Communication with the Journal

The corresponding author should monitor both the registered email address and the journal account while a manuscript is under consideration.

Editorial queries, reviewer comments, revision requests, decisions, and production correspondence may be sent through OJS.

Authors are encouraged to keep communication relating to the manuscript within the journal’s official channels so that a clear editorial record is maintained.

After Acceptance

Following acceptance, a manuscript may undergo copyediting, formatting, reference checking, and preparation for publication.

Authors may be asked to review proofs before the article is published.

Proofs should be checked carefully, especially for author names, affiliations, quotations, references, Arabic or other non-Latin text, tables, figures, and article metadata.

The proof stage is intended mainly for correcting errors. Major new arguments or substantial changes should not normally be introduced after acceptance.

Withdrawal

An author who wishes to withdraw a manuscript should contact the editorial office and clearly identify the submission.

Where there is more than one author, the journal may ask for confirmation that the co-authors are aware of the withdrawal.

A manuscript should not be submitted to another journal until its withdrawal from Islamic Sciences has been confirmed.

Responsibility of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the material they submit is original, complete, ethically prepared, and accurately documented.

Careful submission helps the editorial process move efficiently and allows reviewers and editors to concentrate on the scholarly quality of the work.
