Submission Policy

  • Submission of Manuscripts

    Manuscripts are required to be submitted in MS Word files through Open Journal System (OJS) at this link: .

    The manuscripts submitted to Islamic Sciences must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. They must be an original contribution of the author(s) and must not be plagiarized or AI-generated. Plagiarized or AI-generated submissions shall not be considered.

    Guidelines for Preparation of Manuscript

    The main article submission must be between 7,000 and 10,000 words in length (shorter articles may be accepted when justified by their exceptionally high quality); book reviews are generally expected to be between 1,000 and 1,500 words. Manuscripts should be typed on A4 size paper in a conventional font, size 12-point. Line spacing must be double. Left and right-hand margins should be 1 inch. Notes referred to in the text should be numbered consecutively. The text should be saved in MS Word format. The Manuscript should be accompanied by a cover page carrying the title of the article, the author’s full name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, email address and any other information that the author may wish to provide with the article. Only one co-author is allowed with the principal author of any article to be reviewed for publication in Islamic Sciences.

    Abstracts

    The authors are required to submit an abstract, not exceeding 250 words, along with their manuscripts.

    Keywords

    The authors are expected to provide a shortlist of keywords. Keywords are a tool to help indexers and search engines find relevant papers. If database search engines can find the manuscript, readers will be able to find it too. This will increase the number of people reading the manuscript, and likely lead to more citations.

    However, to be effective, Keywords must be chosen carefully. They should

    • represent the content of your manuscript
    • be specific to your field or sub-field

    References

    The references should be inserted as footnotes and numbered consecutively using Zotero software. A separate Zotero-generated bibliography of the article should be provided in a RIS file. All citations should follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th ed. The use of op. cit. is to be avoided. Quoted material should have a full location reference, including the DOI if applicable.

  • Loanwords and Foreign Words

    Words in Arabic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish, and Urdu should follow this journal’s transliteration scheme and conform to the transliteration system shown in the transliteration table of Islamic Sciences, available at this link.

    Drawings, Illustrations and Tables

    Original drawings should preferably be submitted in a form ready for printing. Each illustration should bear a number, the author’s name, and the title of the paper. The tables should be clear and comprehensible.

    Copy-editing

    The Editor reserves the right to copy-edit and make necessary alterations in the material contributed for publication. The Editor also reserves the right to modify or omit any material deemed inappropriate for publication.

    One-year Free Subscription

    One-year free online subscription to the journal will be provided to authors.

    Books for Review

    Publishers are invited to submit books as well as journals, in duplicate, for consideration of review. Publishers may send review copies to the Editor, Islamic Sciences, Center for Islamic Sciences (CIS), Canada.
